I've got a '97 328i.
I've been getting intermittent but increasingly frequent check control messages about a brake light circuit failure. All the lights work when this happens, and if I shut the car off and turn it on, the error goes away. I've tightened all the bulbs in back, and even put some dielectric grease on the contacts. It doesn't seem to correlate to moisture or temp, although it's been happening every other day now that fall has arrived. I'm thinking of replacing all the bulbs just to eliminate that as a source. Any advice? Thanks. |

It looks like you need to replace switch under the Brake pedal. See Bently manual or www.logun.org for good instruction. I had same problem on 96 328iC year ago. Dealer $25 for part I don't know labor, switch on web site about $ 10 and may be 2 hrs of struggle.
