My New Model Well Underway

Well for the last few weeks i have been scratch building a model from lots of left over parts.
When guiddy said he had some car body's and one of them was the Volvo 850 that i enjoyed making so much it got me thinking.
So i have been building away without saying anything in case my idea failed. Ive been waiting for the body to get here and hopefully it would fit.
Well today it arrived and i shall share my little project with you all
Still got plenty to do......wiring etc.....but it gives you an idea. Just still testing the fit of parts etc.

That just looks superb, and what a great project! There is real satisfaction in such scratch build subjects, but they can be so time consuming!
I was a complete prat and obviously didn't include all the parts I planned to, and so will get them sent off!
What do you plan to do regarding a rear wing? How big do you plan for it to be?
How are you going to paint it? Full on drag car or what???

Do you want any Volvo decals with these other bits?

I have found windows, front grille, front and rear lights and rear spoiler.
I will post them tomorrow after work.

If you could send anything you have left over would be cool....lights/windows/grill/decals etc....should be able to find a use for them on it.

Dont know what to do about a rear wing...kinda like the look of it without one !!!

Paint....i'm open to idea's....you guys have any ???

Hopefully of to the model shop today and see if he has the "wiring" and small hoses etc that i ordered to start some of the wiring.

Well start to sand the body today to remove all the "seem lines" from the body.

Well hopefully get some time to get a light coat of primmer on the body.

You got any spare Funny Car decals?

I have sent you a few VOLVO decals, like the 850 logo, 2 Volvo sunstrips, etc.
I see it having a funny car style paint job!

Wing wise, don't all Drag Cars have wings?

UPDATE....Have sanded the body with 800. I have used white putty to fill all the door handles/boot holes and touring car wing holes. This well slow things down as the door hole handles are large and will take a few goes at getting just right.Well take a while to dry.
I have sat the body back on and have cut the hole in the bonnet.
I marked it out and cut it out with a modelers hacksaw.
Removed the bonnet pins and filled them and well sand it .
Been mucking around getting the bumper to fit the front(whats it off Dan ?) and got it just right.
Have decided to built a Prostock type wing for the back.

The front bumper is a standard 850 bumper, off Tamiya's Estate Volvo 850 Turbo!
As you may have guessed, I will do an Estate 850 with the deep front bumper, BIG wheels, slammed suspension etc., but as a road car!;-)

As for the wing? Good man!

My model shop i go to has different size round lengths of plastic.
I then just make a copy on paper as to what i want, then cut it to the same size. Any bits that need to be bent i very carefully heat the plastic over a candle till it can be bent to shape. Then i superglue it all together then putty up the joints. When dry, sand and paint.

Here's another view of the cage...
