Re: starts then dies p0300 and p0440

I'd start with the p0440, which this is the hardest to find and you can only test so many things with Out the proper tools and manuals to diagnose this.
As you should know if you read GM Merlins Evap Emissions thread.

Sounds like its not getting fuel, have you checked the fuel pressure?

The p0300 is a random/multiple misfire.
This could be caused by your igintion system,
or from the fuel injection system.

By igintion system I mean, plugs & wires, Coils, ignition module and its wiring.
If its the injection syst, they could be clogged/dirty or have a damaged wire.

I'd start by replacing the fuel fitler is its not be changed recently. Then check for spark.

Then inspect all the hoses and wiring underneath the car by the fuel tank.
The fill neck, all the smaller hoses can become loose over time and leak air.
Should also be the Evap purge soleniod under thier, sometimes they go bad.
Then you have the Evap canister under the hood and its lines that could be leaking.

But this still doesnt even scratch the surface as to "what else" it could be.
Sometimes this is easy to find, and other times you'll need a shop with the proper Tools.

Keep me posted and Good Hunting.
