55 Cameo

I'm mostly a Drag / Pro Mod builder, but ive expanded my horizons the past month.

This is the start of my 1955 Chevy Cameo. Cab is primed and ready for a quick wetsand and the first coat of color. Wheels are set in place for ride height calculations, nothing is glue'd yet. This will be my first attempt at air-bagged suspension. The only complaint about this kit is that the bed came in seven pieces, not a single mold like I am used to!

Re: 55 Cameo

nice truck, so are there any body mods on your horizons? I found the 7 piece bed to be quite usefull when building mine. it made it very easy to raise the bed floor to accommodate a Z'd frame and what not. this is one of the FEW AMT kits I would ever suggest that anyone build. it's nicely detailed and accurate enough to build a great replica, and very good for building radical customs. not to mention that the motor would be a great piece to pop into any other street rod project, or muscle car.

Re: 55 Cameo

I think i'll keep it a plain roller for now. Probably "curbside" and keep the motor for another build like you mentioned. It's a spare kit I had laying around which was going to turn into a 'hauler' for a pro-mod I am working on. Lucked out finding another Cameo, so this one turned out bagged.

I'm thinking of sticking with this as a practice model for notching the frame etc and fabricating some air tanks for the bed. Nothing too too crazy, but there are a few ideas flying around in my head...

Feel free to brainstorm some ideas,

Those rims are sweet. I love the height. Great start, keep us posted.

Looks good!
I've got a '55 project in line for next year, I'll keep an eye on this one.
