How many models in your to-do pile?

After seeing some of the collections of unbuilt kits for sale on this and the F1 modeling forum, I'm curious to know how many kits people have lying around waiting to be built.

I returned to the hobby in September and have one project underway, four more on the shelf and two more headed my way in the mail. It's funny, because when I got started, I told myself I wasn't going to be one of those guys who's hording kits.

I once saw a photo of a modeler's garage on the F1 forum and it looked like the warehouse at HLJ.

So... how big is your pile?

Re: How many models in your to-do pile?

Rough estimate puts around 150 in my pile of 'to build' kits and I think 9 started and in various stages of completion.

About 30, nearly all GT1 racers.
Started with a few, but don't seem to have the time to be actually building them

Re: How many models in your to-do pile?

Probably close to 50 car kits in the to build pile, and a half dozen or so started in various states of incompletion.

I didnt plan on hoarding either, but many of us learn the hard way that if you see a kit in your LHS that you know you will want to build, its easier to get it now than find it and pay for it on Ebay in a few years....

Re: How many models in your to-do pile?

About 40. But since I'm now turning to customer's builds, they're probably never get done, and I'll likely just end up selling them when the store opens...

I have about 150 (give or take a few) of various types of models in my closet.

(this pic is old, the pile is slightly larger now)

Re: How many models in your to-do pile?

I would have to guess that I'm in the 150 range of kits in the "to do" pile. I too have learned long ago that if you see something you like it's much easier to get it know than to try and find it later (usually at a much higher price). Have to admit though, never thought I'd get to this level of madness.

Re: How many models in your to-do pile?

I have about 60-70 kits waiting to be built.

(Better hope that my girlfriend doesn't read this post...)

I'm currently working on three kits. Although working might not be the accurate word . My headquarters are located on the attic and with the current temperatures here of around 25-30 C it's no fun working on my models.

Re: How many models in your to-do pile?

In my to do pile are 32 models, consisting of 14 Ferrari`s, 2 Porsche`s, 5 Lamborghini`s, 2 Mini Cooper`s, 4 Subaru`s, 4 Mitsubishi`s and a lonesome Bugatti. I have a Nissan 180SX and a Porsche 959 in progress, and 3 Mitsubishi`s in the mail, 1 from hlj and 2 from ebay. When am I actually gonna complete one? Oh I also got the Mercedes SLR McLaren on pre-order from hlj.

It's not always about self control.

I'd say at least half of my pile is OOP kits, or limited production resin kits that were bought with a 'get it now, or it'll be gone' type of mindset. All the rest were just deals that were too good to pass up at the time, or trades.

I must admit it is nice to have a hobby-shop sized choice of what to work on when I want to start something new.

Yes it is. It's a toy figure, but it's nicely detailed for a vinyl toy.

Re: How many models in your to-do pile?

I currently have approximately 200 kits but I plan to probably sell about half my collection off towards Christmas. I have about 7 started models that I put back away again to finish at a later stage for one reason or another and 2 that I am currently working on. They are all (bar 7 anyway) race cars, predominantly Tamiya or Hasegawa in 1/24 scale with some old school rally 1/43 and a few 1/12. I never intended to get so many, but with prices going the way they are for even semi-rare kits I grab bargains whenever I can (occasionally on eBay but more commonly at hobby stores).
I also have transkits of one form or another for about half of these models.

I am currently suffering builders block though and don't seem to be able to get started, I am sure it will come to me though...
