H22a Accord Egr Problem. Help!!!

I have 1995 EXR with H22A 1993 engine. Every thing is fine but I am experiencing EGR problem. When I disconnected my EGR vacuum line it idles fine but pickup isn’t that good. If I connect the EGR vacuum line it stalls right away. Mechanic used my old wiring for my 95 EXR. Can anyone tell me what can I do in this case.

It could be the egr thats the problem, if you can, take it off, push up on the diaphram and put your finger over the vacuum port, if the diaphram moves, you have a bad egr, if it stays there, then you have another problem

Re: H22a Accord Egr Problem. Help!!!

I'm with hondaguy6513, but another idea might be to remove the thing all together. Keep it plugged in, but fashion a block-off plate to place where the EGR valve was. then just relocate the EGR valve elsewhere in the engine bay. It's not smog legal, but it'll work - however, don't do this unless you have the ability to change your a/f ratio (Apex'i s-afc/v-afc), as you'll run slightly lean otherwise.

Unhappy which one H22 or K20

Hello people I have just joined this group. I have a 01,EX, accord that I'm trying to tune. As you know the F23A is not a tuner's dream. I have some questions about engine swaps. Which engine would be better, easier, cheater, and give me more hp. The H22 which I have to fine and rewire? The K20,euro R(american version of the accord) which I do not know to know about. If any one has any leads about these engines let me know. But I would like it to be J-spec.

The Euro-R is actually a Japanese version of the Accord which has come to the US in the form of the Acura TSX. Regarding a K20 swap into an 01 Accord, it might be difficult, because most people just super/turbo charge their existing engine in that generation. Also, the Euro-R/TSX is a different body than the USDM Accord, so there may be clearance and motor mount issues. I've heard it is possible to swap in an Acura CL engine into the V6 version of your Accord but not sure how that would work in the EX. H22 swaps are a lot more common in the previous generations of Accords but that doesn't mean it is completely impossible.

You're not going to find one less the $2200 shipped to your door. Some, actually most places are a little higher. Then you have to keep in mind to spend some other money on essentials that you will need after you get the motor. Timing belt, A/c,ps belts, new seals, water pump, sometime starters, distributor, etc. Most places don't warranty these items but merely the head and block themselves. So you would dumb not to spend at least an extra $500 on "tune-up" parts before you installed the motor. That's not to mention... who is going to install it? If you're not doing it, expect to spend $600-$800 for labor alone. Either that, get three buddies a cherry picker, a ball joint seperator and a case of beer and go to town.

I agree go beat up the mechanic. Any ways on that swap the egr valve connections have to be lengthend and the plugs changed. Accord has 3pin square, where the prelude has a round one check up on that. Also here is a site that gives a step by step guide of every thing that is done with a h22 into a 95 accord (www.sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/0311scc_hybrid/) Also in that process your supose to swap some wires for the AIB(air intake bypass) and knock sensor.

Re: H22a Accord Egr Problem. Help!!!

get the H22a engine FULL SWAP, don't get the SH. First you'll need the h22a engine, tranny, ecu, and all that other shit. Prolly cost you around 5,000 when your done, cost around $700-1000 labor charge. I say juss buy a new car. :-D, but i have to say I LOVE MY 1995 HONDA ACCORD

Make sure the hoses are connected right.Look at the steel lines right above the t-belt cover. It is very easy to get the hoses crossed right there.I think one hose is no.24.Look at your hood for the diagram.Or like everyone else said.Take back to the guy that installed.Carl
