OK, I'm going to reply to the original question, if a bit late. When I got my 87 Accord, I put some +4's in; that was at 243,000mi. At 295k, I pulled them, which was two years later; this was three weeks ago. They have little to no carbon buildup, and were in fairly good shape, given the mileage put on the car, and the driving I do with it. I feed the car 93 octane, use Valvoline VR1 20w50. The combination works.
I put NGK V-powers in as replacements. I noticed no difference. A week later, I pulled the NGK's and put another set of +4's in. Felt no difference in speed or gas mileage. The idle on the +4's was smoother, as was the acceleration curve. I did notice the slight hesitation on the +4's as mentioned earlier; this was on the old pair, but did not start happening until they were in for about 35,000mi. I suspect it was from their "newness" wearing off. Food for thought. |
