Try any of these 2 scenarios then rave about manual steering:

1. 3200lb car wit 255's up front in a parking lot

2. F-150 wit 33x12.50 in a parking lot.

Re: Anybody else hate power steering?

I just realized that thanks to power steering my rear wheels turn too . AWS feels wicked wierd the first time you go through a turn real fast, like your loosing traction in the back when you know your not.

Re: Anybody else hate power steering?

I drove a 71 dodge swinger..bench seat..manual on the column..manual steering..no power brakes..drums..oh yes..it was hell. but, in a 4 speed '76 BMW 2002 no power steering/no power brakes was fine.

Re: Anybody else hate power steering?

Well I prefer power steering for a daily driver, but manual steering is the only way to go for a drag car. Thats just one less power robbing accessory.

A Rotary weighs nothing!!! I have put them in a RX-7 wit just a bar/cargo strap and another guy. I dare you to try that wit a SBF.

So you have way less weight directly above ya front wheels and how wide are ya front tires?

Re: Anybody else hate power steering?

oh theyre bitch tires. i know its gonna get worse when i step up. stock rim is like 14x5 (or 5.5) i think.

i just dont like power steering anymore because it makes me feel disconnected from the road.

I love power steering. In my first two vehicles (1954 GMC, 1966Chevy) neither had power brakes or steering. There is a reason the steering wheels in "arm-strong" steering vehicles are like 20 inches across.
