AMT Tyrone Malone Super Boss Decals

Hello,

I just recieved a factory sealed AMT 1/25 Tyrone Malone Super Boss (The red, white and blue race truck) and it was hard to remove the seal, but I did. Unfortunately, the decals are not in good condition...I want to build this model, so what I'm asking is, does anyone have a source for replacement decals, either factory originals or reproduced from the aftermarket? Any help and/or any leads would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bil Attridge

Well the first thing i'd do is take it back to where i'd bought it from & complain. This failing, then i'd get in touch with the manufacturer, in this case AMT & explain the situation.

Do it now & good luck, Mike

Re: AMT Tyrone Malone Super Boss Decals

This model has been long out of production and is considered somewhat rare...AMT and the seller cannot do anything for me. It was still factory sealed, so the seller wouldn't have known the internal condition.

They have that make your own decal thing at Walmart, or you could try ebay. Other than that about the only thing you can do is wait and keep and eye out for a set...

Sorry to hear about the decals, but it should be calculated with when it's such a old kit. I don't think it will be an easy task finding a set of decals in good conditon to this one, maybe if somebody has stored them in a zip-lock bag or such. They couldn't by any chance be saved with Microscales decal saver, or are they in such a bad condition that it's just rubbish?
I saw both the "Super boss" and "Bandag Bandit" trucks some 25 years ago when Tyrone Malone came to and toured Sweden with his big rigs and crew. He pulled of one heck of a show with a lot of noice and tire smoke. They had this lottery where you could win a ride in Super boss, a little kid of maybe 6 years old won. About 10 years later I got a apprentice at work and we started talking about cars in general and slipped in on the Malone trucks. Then he says that he had ridden in one of the trucks, talk about a small world
Anyway, it's a fun kit to build of a very impressive truck. The engine on warm up when it was idling so slow you could almost follow which cylinder of the twelve fired and the roar when he put some rubber on the tarmac and dissapeared down the street...wow!

Good luck! Would sure like to see one of these built up again.

Re: AMT Tyrone Malone Super Boss Decals

Excellent story Niclas. When visiting Florida on a family vacation when I was a child, we ran into the whole Tyrone Malone collection too. I have lots of photos of that day...I will never forget those trucks. As a kid, I built all four of the trucks in the AMT line, but now I would like to build the "Super Boss" to an extreme level of detail. Now, if I can only get my hands on some useable decals...

Re: AMT Tyrone Malone Super Boss Decals

I had that Tyrone Malone truck when I was a kid. Still remember it as being one of my favorites. For some reason though, I guessing that Bil might do a slightly better job on it than I did 25 years ago...
