Hey i was just wondering if any one knows of a good, reliable, engine for a 91 rex that is inexpensive, but perferably gives you a little more horse than stock??? And also if ya do, about how much would that run? Thanks alot

The zc motor or the 92-95 civic si/ex motor are both relatively inexpensive swaps.

The cost will depend on what model crx this is going into. What model crx do you have???

Its a 91 si... it isnt mine yet, he is losing compression, so i am wondering if it is worth the money... since i would eventually have wanted to do the swap anyways. Thanks

ZC swap into an Si

Motor: 650 shipped (conservative price)
Use stock transmission
Use stock ecu or upgrade to an 89 teg or zc ecu (around 100-200)
Uses stock motor mounts
Replace wear and tear items (150-250)

Total: 900-1100

Add about 300 for labor if you have a shop do the swap.

This is a very cost effective swap.

130 hp
108 lb-ft

I believe that you can get them with probably around 45000 miles. However, if you replace alot of the items that might wear out it will make the motor much stronger and it will give you less headaches down the road.

You can actually get the ZC for $495 Just the engine from
nippon-motors.com and you can use your stock tranny and ECU, but a 88-89 Integra LS ECU is recommended for better fuel and so your rev limiter wont kick in at 6800. The ZC redlines at 7200 so your stock ECU wouldnt be of much help. Hope this helped.

That would be 495 without shipping. Add shipping and it will come out around 600-650

the one for 425? At nippon-motors.com? or the DOHC for 86-89 civic? It will only last me about 45000?? Thanx, that sounds like an awesome deal, other than if that is true about the miles..... thanks again

Oh, i see now. Since they are used they come with about 45,000 miles. You can probably get upwards of 200000 miles on it if you don't beat on it and maintain it well.
