S-10 Pickup Custom (WIP)

I actually started this model before my camaros, so I think its time to finish it up.

Here is the cab all primered up. You can see I shaved the door handles. One thing that was weird is when I sprayed primer on it (DupiColor) it kinda either melted the plastic or wrinkled it, basicly, it had little slots everywhere, so I took some pudy and filled it in. Im not sure if it was the primer that did it, or the body was like that.

Other side of the cab

Bad pick, but the only one I have of this side of the bed. Here you can see the gas cab has been shaved. I dont know if you guys watch Trucks! or not, but Stacey David showed a truck with the gas cap shaved, and it put into the bed, Im kinda going that way.

Other side of the bed. Same thing happened on the bed that happened on the cab.

My hood with a scoop =) Getting all that puddy looking perfect is a b***h. Its still not perfect, and this was the 4th time ive tryed to fill in all the gaps and cracks. Im going to keep on trying.

The hatch with filled in handle. This is going to be a handle less truck.

Custom engine. Still the V-6 that comes in the S-10's, but a custom paint job.

The interior

I plan on a candy apple red for the truck. Progess shots to come when there is osmething to show =P

Re: S-10 Pickup Custom (WIP)

Question: I got pretty trigger happy with th paint, and it ran on the cab, I used putty to full in the grooves in the plastic, will dot3 lift the puddy? or is there another way (its really heavy on the bottom)

Re: S-10 Pickup Custom (WIP)

A long exposition to brake fluid seems to soften the putty, at least the basic grey putty from tamiya. I had the same problem with my RX7, and i ended sanding the whole body and rescribing the panel lines ! Those grooves are really difficult to get rid of.

Re: S-10 Pickup Custom (WIP)

Yeah, it was either revive this post or make a new one, you really cant win, so Ill revive

Update: When I sprayed the Burgendy Metallic paint, it ran, like stated above. I through it into the dot3, and long behold, most of it came off. The problem: most. The rest turned green, and flaked. Not the good kind of flake where it comes off, but the kind that you have to scrape to get off. So I primed it again, scraped off all the flakes, and just sprayed my first layer of gun metal on it.

I plan on 3 layers of gun metal, then ill mask below the seem on the cab all the way down the bed, as well as mask off a chevy bowtie and SS on the doors, then spray a GM bright yellow (forgot the name right now).

In case your wondering, the hood scoop looks pretty good now =P
