64 impala lowering?

i need to know the easiest way to lower a 1964 impala, i have seen many of them lowered. I think most of the ones that i have seen lowered are on air bag suspension, and have hydraulics, but there has to be an easier cheaper way than that without adding the hydraulics.

Your cheapest route is pulling your stock springs out and cutting the coils, this can be done with a good set of tools and a saturday.

Although cutting springs used to be common, just don't do it. localized heating and unpredictable results will happen. Cutting springs can actually result in higher ride heights since the first coil increases spring rate more than it lowers the car. I don't know why people still do this. It's unpredictable and unnecessary.

You are in luck, though. With some research you can find exactly what you want. B-body springs haven't changed much in 40 years. The internet is full of this kind of info.

For the most part, all B-body springs share diameters, and mounting styles. A good example; I used 1996 Police Caprice springs in my 1966 Pontiac Bonneville. Do an internet search for these and you'll find part numbers, spring rates, heights, etc. What I'm saying here is that since the beginning of the B-body, there have been extremely wide varieties of spring rates and free heights used in GM cars. I guarantee you'll be able to find the right spring in a junkyard with a few hours worth of research.
