No problem... welcome aboard. I would post in the Engineering/Technical forum or the Chrysler forum. Double posting isn't allowed. The Engineering/Technical forum gets more traffic, but the Chrysler forum has more specific Mopar knowledge. If it seems like a general issue, put it in the E/T forum. If its something specific to Mopars, you might get better responses in the Chrysler forum.
Hey Crutis, I'm brand new to AF, and not sure if I'm asking corectly. I have a problem w/ my chry cirrus. hopeing you can direct me to someone who might be able to help.
Only thing I can think of is that its a temporary glitch. If you haven't been able to post by the time you read this, try clearing out all of your internet history; cookies, temp files, etc.
Curtis,
I can't seem to post a new thread under eng/tech... It keeps telling me to log-in... OBVIOUSLY I AM logged in-- Is there something wrong w/ the site or am I doing something wrong? I've posted several times before (ususally under Mercury Gr Marquis) and now I can't seem to post ANYWHERE on the site (I've tried several different forums (???)
Doesn't pounding it in like you say damage the splines that are trying to mesh with the splines on the transmission input? However I have been just pushing and waiting. I didn't know how fragile the axles might be so I didn't want to just ram it in. I'm going to have to try this ramming procedure. I haven't tried that yet. I just get it in as far as I can go and attempt to push in from that spot which doesn't work.
I can't take the clip off? I did actually and put it back on because I was trying to round it off since it looks warped. I'd hate to have to get new axles all because the clip was no good and I don't think they sell just the clip. I didn't know the axles compressed. Are they hard to compress by hand if you went with your first method of pushing it into the whole and letting the compression push the axle in. I can put the axle in through the first half and then it doesn't go any further without any pain. If you put the extension on the inner joint, can't the boot come off? I don't care to see the inside of the axle right now.
