Jevries RC 1/12 scale '64 Impala Lowrider

I felt it was about time to start posting some of my work here on the Automotive forums.

This here is a 1/12 scale '64 Chevy Impala originally made by Maisto. It's nicely detailles and has good proportions for a toy RC car.
I rebuild the chassis and installed strong servo's to lift the heavy rear and front of the car. Along with that a strong hopper motor to make this car hit backbumper.
At first I used the original toy RC parts and tweaked it to make it perform all the moves but later on decided it was time for proffessional RC equimpment buying an 8 channel Robbe/ Futaba F-14 transmitter and receiver.

Here's the first stage with car laid. The wire wheels I created using the wires/ spokes of an 1/10 Pegasus wire wheel the rim I used different parts and made a silicone mold casted the final result in Smooth-On 300 resin. Tires are rubber sockets used in plumming.

Locked on all four.

Cylinder with balljoint to lift the sides. On the first setup the cylinder was direclty mounted to the servos disc.

Hittin'threewheel. The trunk has space for 2 batterypacks. One to for rollin' steering and hydro's and the other to make the car hop which takes quite some juice.

Next stage: Painted the car metallic black and created new wheels with skinny tires using the Pegasus wires, 1/30 bigfoot rims and RC plane tires.

Hopping backbumper at the flick of the switch.

Next stage pictures follow soon!

Re: Jevries RC 1/12 scale '64 Impala Lowrider

I got lot's of offers but it's just not for sale.

I tried to give this ride a nice patterned paintjob but failed and went with metallic black. This year I decided to give it another shot and picked The Lost Angel theme created by Mr. cartoon.
I collected pics from the internet and had to redraw a couple.

The graphics I printed on clear decal paper and applied them on spots I left open. It was not easy to get the patterns right especially since the blue maskingtape didn't gave me razorsharp results. The Tamiya style masking tape proved to be excellent. After I sprayed a silver flake base I applied an inner clearcoat since the flake coat isn't grippy enough what can result in paint stripping removing the maskingtape.

I also created new wheels with a black rim and chrome spokes.

Almost done! Just finishing stuff like fender skirts and bumperkit.

Thanx man!

All the graphics are done by Mr. Cartoon which I collected on the internet.
I resized and cleaned them up a bit since they were all lowres.
