Power output of G20t

What is the hp of a G20t as opposed to G20? Primeras in NZ came out with 151hp standard. We have no turbo versions though.

Factory rated HP is 145 for 2000+ and 140 for 1999 and older. This is for all models. No options on the engine were ever available.

Nope... "t" is for touring

It means you get sporty headrests, a spoiler, fog lights... etc

We have to add our own turbos or swap an SR20DET into the car

Touring, of course. Nothing else but comfy seats and lights. What where they thinking. You would have prefered a turbo- Screw the dark and sore necks! Oh and the spoiler.

If only our cars came with a SR20DET's or SR20VE stock... Oh why did the Nissan people chose to use a engine that is underpowered for a 3,100 pound car... Why...

I say the very same thing man. Why? That is the only thing our car is missing. A turboed engine and a better cupholder.

He might have gotten confused, because someone's sig says something like:

't' for turboed, why not!

I can not recall whos sig used to or still says that, but that might be it.

i think Nissan was thinking of handling before anything else. guess they forgot about working on the engine once they tuned up the suspension. or maybe they expected it to be a rally car of some sort, but oh well, at least we have good handling.

Well I think the 1992 G20 was only like ~2500 lbs (1992 Consumers Guide). It was pretty light. However someone forgot to increase the power as the G started gaining weight. Yes the SR20VE would have been perfect! And they probably would have sold a LOT more cars.

As the G20 aged, Nissan did not have the resources to get a SR20VE engine smog legal for it in the US. When the P11 came out, Nissan was poor!
Only Audi/Volkswagen had been successful in selling turbo 4 cyl sedans in the US recently, so obviously Nissan didn't want to take the risk making a turbo G20. Now that Nissan is owned by Renault, you can see they are developing much more performance-oriented cars and they're reducing the number of different platforms.

The US market almost always believes 4cyls=economy car, so from the beginning the G20 was a tough sell in the US. They also didn't want to fit a V6 in the G20 if they could, because then they wouldn't have needed an I30 or J30.
