Tree Wires need info..

Can someone post a list of parts required to make tree wires. And how to install them.

Plastic coated galvanized steel cables that attach from the ARB to the safari rack to prevent branches from hitting your windshield. Look at the pic, if you look closely, you can see them.

That truck is a bunch of contraditctions. Manik brush guard, but he takes off the front bumper. Hi-lift jack, but no place to jack from. Tree wires, but they're mounted in the middle of the hood instead of out along the fender. Odd.

Well, at least one good thing can be said about it, he's obviously having fun with his mods. More power to him, it's a free world! But that front end ... yikes.

I usually choose function over form, but I'd never make my X look like that for the sake of approach angle.

From his signature pic it doesn't look like he really needs the approach angle unless he spends all of his time posing with one wheel on a rock.

I think that I'd rather keep the bumper if just to protect my tie rods, control arms, CV joints, CV boots, ideler arm, pitman arm, radiator, and transmission cooler.

Not a good trade off in my book.

Like many in the X community, he bought the Manik with the assumption that it actually provided some protection.... But He has since learned the error of his ways and now has an ARB...

I must admit though that MVM can be a little fanatical...But hey, aren't we all sometimes....

Hmmm maybe I should offer these as another CoolKit? I can't claim to have invented these but I was the first X to have them! Here is what you need to make you own set.

In all honesty they are more for the stare factor ;-) Here is a funny story:
I had a Rover guy ask me about them in New Jersey at a gas station last week. He was interested in the latch mechanism and the ARB (Which he said he could weld up himself!). He was very snobbish. He said he could design a better way to do the tree wires. It sort of made me mad so I said well if you can then why are you looking at mine? Geez must be a Rover thing which I don't want to understand ;-) He did have a nice Land Rover though...
Anyway they don't protect the paint at all but the glass. In reality they only truly work when in very heavy brush where most don't go anyway.

Not so much sense on the Xterra.

While they can be more effective with trucks with near vertical windshields they have kept branches off my truck countless times, remember the wheeling is different in various parts of the country...in the East we get lots of overgrown shrubs and trees and the trails are a lot tighter then I have seen out west.

Hey now! Colorado doesn't meet the Pacific ocean you know. We have plenty of tight trails and overhung branches here on the "Wet Coast" too. Ian's just used to those fireroads he runs in the rockies. J/K.

I have had numerous trails in which I wished I had tree wires. Especially in the NJ Pine Barrens, you dont have much to worry about in Shamokin, but in NJ the overgrowth is killer. The sides of my X look lovely. Salsa with white accent stripes.
