Le Mans contest entry; Nissan R390 GT1

Here is the car that I just ordered for the Le Mans contest. This will be the first time that I have ever entered anything into a contest. I doubt I will even come close to winning but I think that it will be a lot of fun. I don't know which category this car will go in because I have not recieved the kit yet. If somebody already knows which category I will be in please let me know.

Re: Le Mans contest entry; Nissan R390 GT1

There's an engine inside! ( )... so it might enter the detailed cat', but if you want to build it as a curbside, I'm sure you'll be allowed to enter the curbside cat' with it...
Nice choice: it's a good looking car that had unfortunately poor results... so stays unknown...
...And Nissans are always welcome here, aren't they?

For the docs, we'll see what can be found on the web... and "old" magazines, maybe...

See you later...

Re: Le Mans contest entry; Nissan R390 GT1

Sincie it does have an engine in it I think that I will go for the detailed category. I don't know how good the engine will turn out but I am going to give it a shot.

As for the pictures I have looked on google and did not find to much except a couple of body pics. No interior or engine pics. That is what I really need.

I work at my local hobby shop, and everyday I stare at this model on the shelf. It's one of the coolest looking cars out there! Too bad I'm too cheap to buy it.

I wish you luck on your model!

Very pleased to have you entering in the comp Moe. Yes, since Tamiya's R390 has an engine and removable pannel it goes in the detailed category.
Check the reference thread stickied at the top of the forum, there is a link or two in there.

The ones posted above are just about as useful as it gets when it comes to R390 reference pics, which is very unfortunate

Good luck with the project. As you can see from my sig I will be building the same model for the contest (the car pictured on the banner). It's a very good kit, not perfect though, and a lot of detail can be added.

Re: Le Mans contest entry; Nissan R390 GT1

Does anybody know if there is a difference between MS-3 Bright Red and TS-49 Bright Red. The model asks for the MS-3 and I have the TS-49. I just wanted to know if anybody knows if there is a difference before I use what I have.

Well finally here is an update of my R390. I have not really put anything together because I am waiting on my photo etched parts. I have not never worked with them before so this will be a first for me. I am also going to be buying a seatbelt for the car when I get some money. This will also be a first. Well here are some pics.
