Re: SMS + Tamiya GT-one full-view progress

you can order a replacement clear parts tree from tamiya... hang on let me locate the # for you...

I know you said France, I'm not very sure about that man, but when I need replacement parts from Tamiya I call 1-800-826-4922 -thats the parts replacement for plastic models and I believe R/C too.

the build is coming along awesome! Great progress thread for a great model.

Re: SMS + Tamiya GT-one full-view progress

For the windshield, i tryed ordering it from tamiya france (T2M), who asked 10 euros for the tree ! So i tweaked and asked my lhs to order it. And they told him it was free ! So i'm waiting. Eventually i'll try making a new one from clear styrene, but i'll see that at the very end.

The brakes were painted with various paints, a mix of gun metal/alu (x-10/xf-56) for the calipers, humbrol metal-cote (27003) for the discs, and metallic blue (x-13) for the hubs.

Looking great!
i'm building same kit but OOB.
Do you use reference photos from Museum Colection?
http://www.museumcollection.co.jp/ga...yota/ts020.htm
http://www.museumcollection.co.jp/ga.../TS020FS_I.htm
They have nice photos of '99 car and some engine colors are different from Tamiya instructions.

Wow, an update !

one of my good resolution for this year was to get back one this one, as i absolutely don't want to miss the contest. There's already a lot of fantastic entries, so i'd better put the 2nd gear to finish it !

What blocked me was the broken windshield, i finally managed to have a replacement part for free . I also casted the radiators and made new ones by gluing 2 copies together, so they are more convincing. The main cokpit part was finished too, with holes drilled for suspension mounts, and everything painted with a mix og metallic grey and black, as i think semi gloss black is too dark for the sms CF.

Here's the programm for the next few days:

Have fun with the CF decaling. You look to have your act together making templeates. Will all of that be visible on the completed car?

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1999 Toyota GT-One

Most of the decal work will be visible, since it's the full-view kit. All the decals are in places, parts soaked in future, and waiting a smoke coat. I removed the engine from the bottom plate to apply the same treatment to it.

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1999 Toyota GT-One

Here's what i have so far. All the major CF work is done, i started putting the interior together.

i decided to glue the roof air intake to the driver cell, so that i can remove the placements bits on the roof and avoid glue marks later. It's not glued yet, it hold with wires.

Thanks for looking.

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: 1999 Toyota GT-One

Zeljko, i noticed that, the rear springs and the valve covers/air box are wrong, i'll se if i can do something about that ( if i can unglue those parts).

And no, i don't have a new camera, i only found a new macro setup, i might post a pic of that, it's really funny.
