Jeep Questiopn

Here is something you don't hear every day. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of putting a nitrous oxide system in a Jeep. It would be for street racing, ot really for mudding or off-roading. I would be lowering the jeep, so as I am less likly to flip it. If anyone knows anything, please e-mial me at [email protected]

Thank You
HippyJM

You can put N2O on any engine you want just make sure you don't run more juice than your internals can handle. You might want to stick with a 25, 50, or 75 shot.

Just buy you one of those super chargers for the wrangler and maybe a chip upgrade. Save your money on refilling the N2O every time you juice it. Besides, how fast do you think you are going to get your jeep? I mean just about anyone in a car can attain a higher top end speed since the jeep starts to leave the ground before you ever reach 100mph. You might consider changing more than that for street racing. I mean the car is built for working muscle and not speed. To get around that you would have to change your differential and transmission to boot. By the time you invest that much effort and cash you could have bought you a cheap civic and dropped a turbo kit in it and still come out ahead. Plus you would still have your jeep.

That said, a $500 NOS kit might be fun to play with... I just wouldn't expect too much. I went through a similar stage with my jeep in high school (hey my friends all had muscle cars) and realized I should just enjoy what I have and not ruin it. I started saving up for a different car to fill in my need for speed. Then you can have the best of both worlds. If you do go the Nitrous oxide route then drop a line and let us know how it went. I would be really interested in hearing from your experiences with the kit. But think twice before you blow all your hard earned cash on remaking a vehicle that was never ment for that purpose. I'd hate to see you be dissappointed after all that work.

A jeep for streetracing? Thats a new one. Some of the guys a wheel with have nos but only use it for mud or hill climbs. Your better off sellin the jeep and getting a old mustang then to race it. Besides lowering a jeep ill cause more problems then it's worth first your front diff will hit just about everything in the street and to get any real gains from lowering your gonna have to relocate the fuel tank. like I said sell the jeep and get a car meant for the street. It will save you time and embarassment.

i beg to differ, battousai

i have a 90 yj wrangler, with a toyota 2JZ twin turbo, stock toyota six speed, no t-case, converted to 2 wheel drive, 3.73 gears, 19 in rims, and reingorced dana 35 axles. i dropped the front 3 inches, and the rear 1 inch, and i'd like to say, the jeep does not lift upa t all, unless you pop he clutch, i can get the fronts about 5 inchs off the fround for a foot or so. but i've had it up to 117. with a drg coif of .56, flat grille, and flat winshield, it's a rough ride, and it jumps around a lot, but it's perfectly possible. 0-60's like 6.8 seconds, which is allright for me, especially with the ling shift throws which came with the extended shifter for the car trans. i think if i had a whole lot more room it could do 130 easy, if not more. but in the origional response, you're jeep ngine's components can handle at most a 100 shot, but you'd be much better staying under 75. and battousai is part right, i wouldn't do it again, supercharge it ifyou want, but get something else for your money, son't bother with the street wrangler, my work has resulted in almost nothing compared to my friend's work on his gran am. he can still do 150 with a 4 bager, so i'm about to give up on the streep jeet as i've called it. - jon

Hmmm....sparks at each dip in the road, or driving and smiling on the beach while the Honda drivers walk their stuff out. Easy decision, easy decision!
