Re: Weird Engine noise

How the hell are we supposed to help you if you can't provide us with an accurate description of your problem? As jackasssi said, there are many, many, MANY possible sounds that can come from your car, and you need to be as specific as possible. The only assumption I can make about a "vibrating" sound is a deep, oscillating, humming noise, but that may be a totally different sound than what you're hearing. And his description certainly makes more sense than your "vibrating and underpowered but I can't feel a vibration and it doesn't seem underpowered."

dude cool it down a lil bit. I was just joking man.

Gotta give me some slack here. This was like my first post on the forum and naming a problem. Cant really diagnose anything with just words. Forums are almost just a way to gain a direction on what the problem is.

Re: Re: Weird Engine noise

I have an Accord and I couldn't diagnose the source of noise coming from the engine. The noise fits the description of Jajimo, but I would say its more like scraping noise that increases with the RPM.

But I dont hear the noise at higher RPM's. Is it the belt slipping or an exhaust problem as posted earlier?!

Appreciate if anyone can post indicators to source of problem. Thanks!!

As to Jajimo's issue, its worthwhile to check the distributor assembly. This is one of common problems with Honda Accord. A bearing inside the distributor makes clicking noise, but typically one cannot associate a pattern to a distributor noise. And it appeads the noise actually comes out of Timing belt.

Re: Weird Engine noise

I have the same noise as how jajimo and gan described... I also know 2 other person with accords that has same noise at low rpm. its like a metal clicking noise, i only hear it when im either in park or neutral and revving the engine to 1500rpm, and as it go down to 1000 or so... thats when i hear the noise... but on my car, its louder than my friends car...

Re: Weird Engine noise

think i know what it is... an evo 8 came in to my station with the same problem and it was a cracked bearing or something. So my car has something wrong with my bearing in my clutch.

Re: Weird Engine noise

jajimo....all sound is the result of a motion, which can come from a vibration. So all vibrations produce sound, whether we can hear them or not.
