Porsche Then...Porsche Now

When I see pictures of Porsches from 50 years ago and now, it just seems to me that they all look completely alike. The only Porsches that looked different was the 944 and the Carrera GT. Don't get me wrong, I think that Porsches are beautiful cars, but I think that the company could be a little more aggressive with new models. We'll see what the Cayenne does to this image of Porsche.

Probably nothing. It's still a Porsche. I love what the company has done with their cars. Amazing heritage. Clean designs. Evolution. That's what it's all about in my opinion. If I had the choice, I wouldn't change anything that Porsche has done.

Porsche has tried to keep all of it's models looking sleek with rounded, flowing lines. Every vehicle up to now has said "Porsche" to anyone who saw any of their cars.
Personally, I hope they keep their cars looking like "Porsches". Just like a Lambo or Ferrari, you know the car by it's design and lines.

I completely agree with you that you can spot a Porsche a mile away from its lines (same with a Ferrari, and especially a Lambo) but Ferrari has the Modena, the Spider, the Maranello, the 456 GT, and the F50. All of these cars are distinctly Ferrari, but they all look different. Porsche's main cars (I'm gonna neglect the Carrera GT) the Boxster, Carrera, and Carrera Turbo plain all look the same. Granted the rear of the Boxster is different from the Carrera model, but its intrinsic lines still hold the same. Even the Turbo shares this flaw. Aerodynamically it's different, the side intakes are different, but seeing Porsche after Porsche after Porsche makes the style bland and a little boring to look at. I look for Porsche within the next decade to make a brand new sports car (Cayenne is a good step too) with completely new lines and body that still screams Porsche from a mile away.

I like the Posche lines from way back when, and I wouldn't change what they've done. Very distinctive, very Porsche. Hey, it must be working b/c Porsche is the most profitable auto manufacturer out there!
