Question Alpine Developments

I am looking at Alpine Turbos and Superchargers for my '99 Tiburon FX and I keep seeing that they have a disclaimer on every page: "For off-road use only" or "not for use on public roads" i was wondering why Alpine Devlopments would not allow on road use.

If i do go ahead and buy one of these kits and drive around on the roads and stuff what could happen? Who Would Know? This is still going to be my school driving car (daily driver) and i don't want to have to drive something else.

Oh yea so far I have found the kits for $2,900 is that too high? or what?

What do i need to buy that dosen't come in the kit?

Is this a stock bolt on or do i need headers or exhaust system mods first?

~Thanks.

try asking questions on their forum on www.hyundaiaftermarket.com

you can get the kit from the shop at www.hyundaiperformance.com

they put for off road use only because it is prolly not legal, and they dont want to be held liable for it. you wont need a header, because you get a manifold with the kit. it would be a good idea to get a free-er flowing exhaust, but it is not required. they use a unichip for fuel management though, so you will need to find a unichip dealer that can tune one to get your car running right.

dont worry about it unless a cop pulls you over.

technically, any modifications we make to our cars can be illegal.

it is a very vague law, with loopholes everywhere. pretty much, it is supposed to be illegal to modify our car at all, but then you get companies getting their turbo kits CARB approved and what not. its stupid. i dont think a cop would give you to much trouble, unless you were involved in street racing.

Re: Alpine Developments

youll be fine... the only thing is if you have a nitrous oxide system running in your car... you have to have it labeled on teh outside of teh car... cause if you get into an accident the police and everyone has to know

as long as everything is carb ok youre fine
a cop isnt gonna say anything abotu you making your car better
