Automatic Transmission Gear Stuck
I recently changed my timing belt changed(1 week ago). I was driving down the road at about 60mph and all of a sudden the automatic transmission shifted down to 3rd gear. It was stuck in 3rd, so I pulled over. It was still stuck in third when I stopped, so I turned the engine off and back on. It worked fine for two days and then did the exact same thing again, except this time when I turned the engine off and back on it was stuck in first for a minute and then it started working fine. The car has 50,000 miles.

How did you know it was stuck in 3rd when you stopped? Were you driving on flat terrain or hills...need more info, what was your tach revving at?

I take it since you said it said on the dash that it was in 3rd gear that you were using the autostick. What does it do when you just leave it in drive???? Either way, it's still under the factory warranty. Take it to the dealer and let them fix it. It's either a transmission or the control module for the transmission.
