How do you repair a trip meter?
My -- 1991, 4WD, 5.7L Chevy Suburban’s -- Trip Meter gets stuck on some random numbers like 200 or 310 miles, so I can’t easily check my gas mileage and so on. Can anybody share the knowledge of how to fix it?
Thank you. |

try taking your battery cable (pos) off for about five mins, then put it back and see if that will reset you computer.

The computer has nothing to do with odometer's on '91 Burb.
You can try resetting to 0 more often and see if it loosens up. The 91's are bad on odometers and the only cure is an OEM repair or a replacement speedometer. GM can fix it, but it's expensive and they have to send it off. The truck will be terrible with out the VSS connected. I think LMC Truck sells a replacement speedometer, but the cost is around $250.00-$300.00. Might try a junk yard. |

Re: How do you repair a trip meter?
Thanks, dirty dan:
Resetting it to 0 more often is probably what I will do for now, and then the junk yard option will be the next step. Honestly I hoped somebody would say: "just open it up and spray with WD40!", but I don't know too much about car's gutts. Thank you. |
