what would cause my rotors to warp?
I'm pretty sure the front left rotor on my 94 RS is warped. The guy who I bought the car from three months ago told me that he had the same problem before and had the rotors grinded down. Now it seems to be happening again.
Before I go out and buy a pair of $150 new rotors I wanna fix what might be the cause of this recurring problem. Any Ideas where to start? Also I've been told Brembo rotors are a pretty good product, but what set of brake pads should I get? I'm Looking to spend about $50 |

rotors
the problem is most likely caused by overtightening your wheels on ur car, like using an impact wrench to put ur wheels and tires back on ur car. i've had the problem before and thats what it was. i've since corrected the problem by just using a tire iron on my wheels, then using a torque wrench to properly tighten them.

Re: what would cause my rotors to warp?
i have brembos on my crx with axxis metal masters. they are pretty good. good stopping power and no noise. i heard that slotted rotors eat the pads away a little faster than normal, so i'd get the cross drilled ones. the problem with the warped rotor could be that the rotor may be worn thin. if you are driving fast and braking hard. the rotors, if thin, will heat up and could warp.

Gonna get'em machined this weekend if they're not too thin and order some EBC Green Stuff pads |

i would get new rotors before getting the EBC's they are going to eat up your rotors rather quickly compared to any oem type pad. The brembos, powerstop, and powerslot are all good brands.

I am a Tech at a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership and just about every car that comes in has warped rotors (When we put them on the lathe you can see that they are warped, just some you can feel and some you cant. Mostly its just from using them alot, its normal that they warp. If I were you I would get a set of new rotors, pads and just replace them, there should not be a problem with anything else, just make sure that all the mounting surfaces are free of dirt and rust, also make sure them screews that hold the rotors on are there.
