Question WANTED: Styrene sizes for 1:25 Scratchbuild,

Hey everybody. Just wanted to give/get some information on the subject. I'm going to scratchbuild a turbo, and turbo manifold for a revell 1:25 ITR. I have currently .100 styrene rod that I'm planning to use for the turbine itself. Do I need something bigger/smaller for my compressor housing? Will the .100 be small enough for the turbo manifold? What size tubing/rod will I need to properly plum the turbo and the intercooler?

BTW, I searched google and got some damn good pics of B16 turbo vtec's. I'm stuck on something. if all the exhaust gets shot directly into the turbo, where does it exit and it's spun the turbo up? Meaning, where do I connect my exhaust piping to on the turbo?

Thanks.

Re: WANTED: Styrene sizes for 1:25 Scratchbuild,

i usually make the compressor housing slightly bigger than turbine. but i guess it doesnt make that muc of a difference on a honda motor since the turbo is gonna be small. i actually made a turbo for the b18 out of tree parts but it was too big and i wasnt able to fit the radiator and fans. either i move them, or i make smaller turbos...

Re: Re: WANTED: Styrene sizes for 1:25 Scratchbuild,

I already planned to move the radiator forward to make room. hey, the last itr I did, I chopped, and dremmeled so much, I pretty much converted it to rwd and put a small block v8 in it.

Re: WANTED: Styrene sizes for 1:25 Scratchbuild,

I have many large images of turbos. They're not Honda's, but I guess it should work. I'll be happy to share them with you.

.100" rod seems a bit small IMO. Equals about 1" in 1/24th scale, so i'd figure it should be larger, but its not in front of me so its hard to tell.

Re: WANTED: Styrene sizes for 1:25 Scratchbuild,

I figured a 2'' in 24th scale was about .080, so I decided to use some .218 for the compressor, and some .100 for the turbine, at first it looked kinda odd, but I really like the way it looks. petercardoso, sure, any turbo reference pics you can share would be great. Just PM them to me.

BTW, the .100 is too large to build the mani with, so, would about .080 or so work? or do I need something larger/smaller?

Peter, can you send them through e-mail?

If so send here: [email protected]
