memory seat light remains on

Hi, I've had my 1998 BMW 528 for 6 months and I've just noticed the light on my memory seats. Does anyone know if the light should remain on at all times and if not, does anyone know how to turn it off? I'm hoping it's nothing electrical. Any assistance would be greatly welcomed. Thanks
