CA18DET-ALL the internals are forged. The SR20DET has cast pistons...
SR cams only have 4 lobes per cam.each lobe actuates 2 rocker arms... CA uses lifters,no rocker arms.8 lobes per cam/Each cam lobe acts directly on the valve. SR20DEt was meant to be a replacement for the Ca beause SRs were cheaper to produce... CA18DET-Iron block SR20DET-Aluminum block with steel alloy sleeves The CA is one rev happy mofo. Can your SR rev to 9000RPM STOCK? ![]() Of course there are other differences too... I just convinced myself what engine I want

I always liked CA's over Sr's in a highly tuned match up basically because of its iron block and internals, but they are older and produce less power, hell not much more rwhp then a good running KA24de, but like I said they do have some potential when you start slapping on parts, plus they are hella cheaper then SR.

yea i read about the cad18det, it does have the better design, with that iron block. but i think id still go with sr since its newer, easier to find parts, comes with more power, and less problems when looking at 300 hp range without engine rebuild, am i correct?
