what kinda engine do you wish?

what kinda engine would u want in a 240sx? like would u wanna have a high revving small displacement v8, or a high revving 4 like the honda s2000, or an inline 6 like the bmw m3 engine, or maybe a 5 cylinder one like what audi has? how about an old school v8 with carburators? rotary engine? would u want an engine thats powerful, but without the turbo? what if u had it your way? what would u want?

well a ferrari V12 would be nice for drag if someone could make it fit :P

but if I could invent my own, personally I'd want a V6, much like the 2JZ in the MKIV supras, I'd make it a 3.2 a turbo model and non-turbo model, same car and engine, just one has a turbo, that way you wouldn't have to worry about engine swaps if you got a non-turbo, just slap on a turbo. I'd say maybe 300-325hp and 275-300lbs on the N/A version, then add like 40-50 more torque and 60-70hp for the turbo model, both would definately need a wide powerband, I mean what could you not do with that? that would just be fun, too bad it won' tever happen and if it did I wouldn't be able to afford it :P

but to stay with engines now days I'd stay KA, rebuild it and turbo it

Riiiiiiiight. The 2JZ is an I6.lol You can get a 3.3l stroker kit for it, however.

You'd better just stick with that.

If the VK could fit, I'd go with one of those. Displacement and technology. I'd add one of the Keuylian superchargers that was made for the Q45. The blown VKs make 450hp on only 7.5psi.

I would like an RB26DETT fully built by Mines with a single HKS T51R, mounted to a full race spec tranny with Sequintal shifter.

id want a 2.6L inline six rated at around 275hp with no turbo, that redlines at around 8000-9000, with the engine mounted as far back as possible on the 240. it would also be nice to have a high revving 3.6- 4.0L v8, with the transmission mounted in front of the rear axle, like in the c5 for better balance. but if i had to pick a motor thats available right now, id go with the sr20det, and up the displacement to 2.2.

I want a turbo KA sooo bad.

Shit...I wish I had Tat's car just with a new clutch!LOL

I'm keepin my SOHC KA and turbocharging that.To be honest I have no experience with forced induction and tuning engines.I've driven some pretty quick cars though..

The engine that is in my car will be my guinnea pig.If I blow it up,owell...no one's gonna miss a SOHC KA right?Well except me

Another KA24 block is just $150 and a short drives away if it were to go boom.

If anybody is willing to donate SOHC/DOHC KA motors Email me

After doing research,I came to the conclusion that the KA-T is exactly what I am looking for(brute power)

Everybody else could keep their Jay-dee-emm engines

just my

Nah not really.Just throw in(sounds so easy..)some forged pistons along with some ARP head studs and you're pretty much set.

There have been ppl put down 400hp on stock bottom end KA before...

They can handle quite a bit...I just wouldn't push the engines too hard without upgraded internals. I might even try a KA-T and then if it dies eventually I'll just get another maybe...and if that one dies and/or isn't the power I need then I'll go for an RB25 probably. I6 is so badass, but I can't see spending that much if I could be satisfied for over 5 grand less...makes no sense...even if RBs do sound really powerful.

building a KAT to 400hp is going to cost just as much or more than getting an rb25... plus its an inline 6, and its made for abuse, why would you want a KA over that? i considered turboing my ka (its only got 46,000 miles its prime) but i figured that with the money im going to spend on it it will not be worth it because its not what i really want which is an RB or s14 sr20... sr20 only if i absolutely have to.

I'm really diggin the CA18DET's.The Iron block is what really attracts me to these and the price.I was talking to my dad about the SR,as soon as I mentioned it was aluminum block he said it was shit.

CA18 is definitely the choice for me if I don't have a lot of cash. Headgaskets are supposed to be weak after 300-325...but the block and most of the internals are pretty damn strong. For a 1.8L I think 300 hp is more than decent power...let alone if you run mid-sized turbos and/or turn the boost down you can get great gas mpg if you keep the revs relatively low and don't go all boy-racer on it.

KA-T is starting to be a good choice, but you have to quite a bit of work to it to iron out the reliability issues. Still...for it's price...it can give really good performance and 2.4 liters is quite a bit bigger than either the SR and the CA. Iron block too .

SR20...I don't like it more and more. It's a fine engine, but since you have to swap it in if you live in America that's a huge cost...when you could just spend a little more for the engine and the swap and get an RB25 and have an iron block I6 with .5 liters more.

RB26 is too crazy for road use in the 240 IMO since with just a few mods it can be in the 400 or more HP range which is too much for such a small car...or at least for me ...and if you just run it at 300hp all the time...you're wasting it's potential...like taking a mclaren F1 around town and only around town...it's just not right.

AND... if I could have any engine in a 240sx I would probably go with a hmmm...4rotor ...or maybe a Ferrari V12 from an F50...both sound incredible and would kill everything on the road...including whoever was driving the beast.
