shifter bushings worth it?
i have a b&m edge shifter on my GS-R, and i've gotten used to the throw and it kinda feels long now. i'm wondering if it would be worth it to get a set of enegery suspension shifter bushings. would it make that big of a difference? how hard is it to install? or, should i just wait and save my money for a skunk2 or b&m ripper shifter?

Shifter bushings works wonders & are well worth the $$$$$. The busings themselves are very easy to install. I dont recommend upgrading to a short throw without the bushings.
My choice of shifters is Hurst with either ES or Prothane bushings. If you were to install the bushings using jack stands to support the vehicle, it would take longer to lift & support the vehicle than it would to install the bushings. As with any mod, the right tools for the job helps big time! Last edited by jackasssi; 08-17-2003 at 09:50 PM. |

I agree that shifter bushings are a very nice upgrade for very little money.

Basic tools: 12mm, 14mm wrench/sockets. You may have to move the exhaust b-pipe for access. B&M used to make a set of ALUMINUM bushings for these cars and civics. That should make it feel nice and racy...Click, Click through the gears. I dodn't know off-hand if they still offer them. Their kit allowed you to adjust the fore and aft position of the shifter by rotating the front bushing at the tranny.

for shifter bushing install if your heat shield is already off then all you need is 2 14mm sockets, take out the bolt that holds the stock bushing in place, pop in the new one. once you have the car up on stands it shouldnt take more than 3 minutes to put the new bushing in
