Short shifter worth it?

I just got my intake and y-pipe installed and I was looking for another mod that could make me faster in my 97 GXE. Is the B&M short shifter worth the money? Would 1/4 mile times be at all faster over the stock shifter due to quicker acceleration? Or do you think I should just save my money up and buy a UDP or a ECU next. I would have to wait a while if I were to decide to get the Geforce ECU, but I could buy a short shifter or a UDP at this point in time. Thank you.

Re: Short shifter worth it?

geforce/technosquare ecu is what you want, very good performance mod, im not so sure the sts will make you faster. may be a learning curve with the new shifting feel, but i have read others say once you get used to it, the chance of error is less, really only 2nd to 3rd is the tricky shift when your speed shifting .. lol ! UDP is a good mod but i doubt you could feel your car being faster, but it does help out with the other mods.

i would like the sts too but havent gotten around to it for the same reasons, seems like there is some thing a little better to get each time i have money.

Thank you Ceasar. Just curious, what would you get next. Currently I am a college student without a job and I only have the money ($450, need a little left over till the summer time) to buy a UDP or short shifter at the moment. I am getting a job in the summer and that is probably when I will buy an ECU. Maybe for now I should just buy something like the UDP to hold me off till the summer. I would love to get times like yours. What should I be running at sea level with my current setup (intake and y-pipe). Also Ceasar would it be stupid to get a Frankencar midpipe for my stillen intake?

http://216.109.67.253/integratedcata...ionID=29224832

they have a pacesetter sts for around $75 (free shipping). i just bought one, its going in friday.

i too have a exhaust and ypipe (going on in about 12 hours)

only thing i would do besides that is a mevi and ecu (or nos). i had a udp on my 240sx and i didn't see any noticeable gain (save your money). just pump up your car with higher grade fuel.
