97 grand prix problems
I have a 97 grand prix with about 106000 mi on it. When it gets real hot and and I drive it then turn it off for a minute it will be hard to start back up and I'll have to wait until the engine cools down, I guess, before it even starts back up. Also lately the rpm sticks will just go dead while I'm driving and I'll feel a little hesitation in the engine. Does anyone have any clues about these problems?

Same issues
I also have a 97 GTP and I am having the same issues. See my previous posts on these issues and let me know if you figure the issue out because I have not had time yet to fix mine.
Thanks, Mike

Your hard start may be due to a bad check valve in the fuel pump causing fuel pressure to leak off. The problem with the tach may be a bad PCM or a bad Cluster. Put a fuel pressure gauge at the test port, check your fuel pressure with the car running and check it with the car off, the pressure should not drop more than 2psi for ten minutes, if it does drop, you'll need a new fuel pump. Another thing it may be is that if you arent using the right gas, if it has too high an alchohol content it may be causing problems. Because your car has a supercharger, you should be running premium instead of regular.

Ah.. sounds like your crankcase sensor. I had the same thing happen. Car would run fine cool.. once it got hot, it'd die and wouldn't restart until it had cooled off. Replace the crankcase sensor.

Thanks, I'm going to take these ideas up to my mechanic and see what he says. I'll let you know what happens next week.

I was just wondering where the testing port was for the fuel gauge.
