the ram air intakes piping is bigger than the entry on the intake manifold, and on the cold air its the same size. i love the ethereal HOWL that comes from my intake once i hit 3750+ rpm... it sounds soooo mean. not rice at all, its throaty as hell

Hmmm, you sure about that? Isn't the point of a CAI to suck cold air from down by the turn signal as opposed to hot air from under the hood? I dunno i'm still a newbie when it comes to this stuff so correct me if i'm wrong...

indeed. my frien has a cai on his w/ a by-pass valve an he got water into his motor. we couldn't figure out what had happend (we too believed that they'd save ur motor), but we started doin some research an they are only effective when the filter is submerged. therefore...it is still possible to get hydro-lock w/ the valve.

so in your opinion, if you were me and had a stock 96 gsr, what would you get in terms of intakes, and would you get an air filter and bypass valve to go with it?

i cant really tell the difference in hp gains between my short ram and my cai... ill put the ram back on i guess and get a heat shield or something. i heard from someone that heat shield on a SRI makes like a 1-2 hp gain, which is about the difference between SRI and CAI.

u can jus buy a SRI, which will include a pipe and a filter. i'd swap out the filter u get for a K&N filter, but overall, the gains are the same.

brand doesn't matter. if u wanna spend the extra cash for the colored piping an the sticker, then go for a big name, if not, a generic will do jus the same.
