Hey new guy here in need of some help

Whats up fellas!
I been getting alot of input from you guys from this forum to gain knowledge of my civic, and ive learned alot in the past 2 weeks. I just got a 91 HB 4 days ago and I just installed a tach, I ran the positive to the fusebox and hooked the negative up to my steering colum, tach works fine and all but now i dont have turn signals or 4 ways I pretty much checked all the fuses under there and they are all good including the hazard light fuse in the engine compartment, i found a relay for the turn signals on the fusebox and i checked it with my multimeter and had no continuity, is that good or bad? and if that relay is bad does it effect my turn signals and hazard lights?
thanks
Dustin

I think you must have shorted something out when you hooked up the tach...how did you hook up the (+) to the fuse box? Did you just stuff the wire in the slot with the fuse?? Did you use a blade fuse tap??? - I have a mixture of both tapping into my fuse box...it is easy to short things out. There is also another fuse box under the hood, containing some other fuses...check those too, although I think all the blinker associated fuses are under the dash.

Also..a possible alternative ground would be a bolt to the frame just near the hood pull, up under the dash. I think it bolts the dash to the frame, allows a good location for ground wires, keeps things tidy and provides a good ground directly to the frame, and keep wires from getting whacked by your feet near the steering column

Oh..and welcome!!

Hey thanks for the reply!
And yea i hooked the positive to the fusebox, crimped it in with a fuse. If i got a short whats my options on fixing the problem? Money has gotten tight lately and if its a easy fix for myself that would be great. If not what will need to be replaced?
Thank you
Dustin

Did you remove the cover from your guage cluster in the process? You may want to check to make sure that the plug for the Hazard switch is still connected, because if it isn't, your hazards won't work (which I assume is what you mean by '4-ways'), and in addition, your turn-signals won't work either.

I will in due time, I just picked this car up for $500, the ppl b4 me were chain smokers and potheads. nothing wrong with that but the car is nothing but a huge stained mess and plus the two front fenders are busted up. its a STD car with its 4spd and its DPI injection. but id like to eventually get a b16a gen 2 motor for it with a 5spd of course. I gutted the interior of the car so i can do some hardcore cleaning. Im a non smoker and cant stand the smell of cigs. HA i also found a dime bag of weed shoved in a matchbox in the firewall. Neways im saving this car from furth neglect. I really wanna replace those banged up fenders with some Z3 fenders. ahh good things take time. oh yeah the car has 200k on it and runs smoothly without any smoke or valve tap.
