2.2, 2.4 TC and 2.2 ECOTEC

Just wondering what you guys are running in the 1/4, and what cars you've raced. Try to be HONEST. I especially wanna hear from you 2.2L 115hp guys !

these times r from ppl's cavi's that i know of:

stock cavi's run about high 17's low 18's. if u do basic bolt on engine work (i.e. air intake, header, exhaust, throttle body...), u'll then be running mid 17's. if u want the serious boost, go w/ turbo, nos, supercharger, or porting the engine--but i don't have times for cars that have been modded like that. in the end, u'll have to put in alot of $$$ to make a cavi go fast.....but it's also that way w/ all cars....

ive raced with guys that have z24s that are throwin down in the mid-15's. Lots of mods though. Im running 16.12 in my 2.2L but I've got lots of minor performance upgrades in it. Nothing really expensive like cams, nitrous or turbo/supercharging. I saw a clip of a z24 running in the 14s supercharged, and lots of enginework. For the most part stock 2.2L run in the high 17s low 18s, 2.4s in the high 16s low 17s <a lot depends too, if you have auto or 5spd.>

alot of this depends on if its a 5speed, the driver, and location. I live in Kansas have a 5speed and am an OK driver and run anywhere from high 15's to low 16's. With a cold air intake. But i would say it really depends on the driver. A 250hp cavy can be beat by a 180-200hp cavy with the right drivers. But anywayz back to your question heres a link for 1/4 times. i dont think these are actually ran times, they are just what the computers figure up. 1/4 times

i've never clocked my 1/4 mile but i do have a 2.2L. ecotec in my grand am. i've raced a z28 a newer one i dont know but it was an auto he was never a 1/4 of a car length in front of me. and i also raced a v6 couger like a 99 to 2001 and beat it. i'm completely stock. my 2.2 is putting out 145 hp and 150hp but i have one serious disadvantage. with me in it i guess i weight bout 3250lbs. and i only weigh 210lbs.

oh as for the grand am gt. 3.2L v6. i was next to it on the beltway and he could not leave me behind. i'd stick with the 2.2L ecotec. less money, less gas consumption. and theres far more room in the engine bay for upgrading.

I got a 2001 Z24. Never taken her to the track so dont know what she runs. Can say that i havent lost to a honda yet. Of course i havent raced one with anything more then intake and exhaust setup. Got a buddy of mines 97 mustang with the 6 beat. Ive done alot of street racing. Being in the military with a "cavalier" i tend to have to prove myself often. I plan on going to the track in about 2 weeks after i get my exhaust and intake put in. Ill let ya know after that.

Re: 2.2, 2.4 TC and 2.2 ECOTEC

a LS1 automatic Camaro will run a mid 13 stock...he wasn't racing you trust me mikegee...

I ran a 15.92@85mph in my AUTOMATIC 2002 Cavalier LS Sport with less than 100 bucks in mods...I have since added RK Sport polished warm air intake with cold air extention, upper and lower motor mounts, and some weight reduction. I should be around a 15.7 now...

Re: 2.2, 2.4 TC and 2.2 ECOTEC

a 2200 jbody should run in the high 16s to high 17s depending on the driver, the 2.4L or LD9 in a jbody will run low15s to high 16s depending on the driver, and the ecotec will do pretty much the same as the LD9, but it does weight something like 200lbs less then a LD9 since the ecotec is made up mostly of aluminium.
