im confused

ok, i read somewhere (cant remember which post) that the SR20 will not pass Ontario Drive Clean?

WTF is this bullshit, is there any way to tune it down so it passes? there are many other cars out there that definately produce more shit outta the exhaust than the SR does.

and then i hear how people in Ontario are driving around with SR's.

did they contact their insurance company and the ministry of transportation? (i read in the star that that is what u have to do to make it legal)

i wanna know how they dont get nabbed by the pigs , cause they always pull over my friend in his NEON and ask if he has a turbo or any mods and ask to look under the hood, just because he has a really loud system with a couple of 15's.

this is rediculous.. whats the point of swapping if u cant use it as a daily driver, and what is the worst that can happen if they do catch u with an unregistered, un-clean SR swap....

just curious as i have been plannin my car for a while, and i really hate it when i get shit outta luck because of these stupid things.

any answers?

you can get around it, everyone with an sr does

im not sure how. my one friend said right before you take it for the test, drive it really really hard for about an hour before. that will kill all the emmissions.

as far as cops checking under the hood, i've never heard about that being done in the states. the cops ask him if he has mods? mods aren't illegal in the states, we can seriously put a v8 with a hugeass hood scoop on a ugo and they wont say anything

Okay first of all there is no point to do a swap why not just drive it stock the way it's supose to be driven in the states... And everyone that does an illegal swap should know the consequence first b4 even concidering doing the swap. You have to understand that everyone that does the swap know that if you get caught your due for alot of truble. And no one that does the swap passes emmisions(well like 10% might pass. So "what about the other 90%??" you say. They have hook ups, ppl they know and can trust or have friends that can pass your car for you if you give em alil extra on the side. Its all part of the game man. If you gona go with an illegal swap you better be ready to go all the way. But if you too worried with getting in truble then i see no point in doing any swaping... and did you say you wanted it for just a daily driver?? If you gona just build a beater why go through so much truble. And as far as i know you cant leagalize the SR in your car. It has to be a KA, unless you have some beat up 80 model or something then you can put another motor in. Not sure what year it has to be but unless your driveing a car older then your self dont cont on it being leagalized anytime soon.

i have a hook up...

you might try asking this on www.son240sx.ca. it's the Southern Ontario 240SX owners club, and i know of at least one guy on there with a white '91-'93 that has the swap done and daily drives it. if you do ask there and get an answer, let me know!

whats wrong with daily driver that can stomp on a fair amount of cars?

i know people that put b16 engines in their hondas and drive em all the time..

who DOESNT drive their normal sr swap everyday?

its not some old 454 v8 that u gotta take utmost care with, its a drift engine, meant to take some tollerance by the internals of the sr20's ive seen.

Drift engine huh... but as far as i know the b16 passes emmishions??(anyone wana second me on that??) My GF's lil bro gota a b16 in his hatch and it passes emmisions he just needs a b16 ecu and all is good. But i guess if your HELL BENT on doing a swap. tune your ECU get a good CAT stuff like that you can tune it to where it might have a better chance in passing emmisions. Its not impossible just its gona cost ya some money and power i guess. Or just do it the good ol fashion way and get a buddy to pass it for ya.

You dont need a SR to stomp other cars!!
its nice though... ill agree with that!!
