Thanks Pick, I haven't laughed that hard in months! Despite your fanciful notions of the Republican party being wonderful people who do so much good, and are so committed to preserving the America way of life, they are just the same as the Democrats. They are the "elected" representatives of the extremely wealthy, and wouldn't hesitate for a second to boil you alive if they could wrangle another tax cut for their cronies out of it.

I dislike the US gov't for their foreign policy, especially in regard to Canada. The US gov't will screw over it's closest allies for the profits of a few corporations. Are you aware of how NAFTA is worded, or do you, like most right wing Americans, believe that NAFTA only applies to the US and Mexico, in a insidious plot to give American jobs to Mexican immigrants? Are you aware that the US placing a 28% tarriff on Canadian softwood lumber is in serious violation of NAFTA, and is an illegal protectionist action, for the expressed purpose of hurting Canadian lumber exports, which happen to be more efficient and of higher quality than the US domestic lumber. Isn't the idea in a free market capitalist economy, the kind you love so much, that whoever can provide the best service for the best price should be able to do business as they please?

As for me, I am most certainly not "anti-American". My girlfriend is American, and I spend about 1 week of the month in Seattle with her. I think America is far too large and diverse a country to try to categorize in any way, as is Canada. My criticism of the US is limited to the media and the government, both in it's foreign and domestic policies. I don't think Bush's Republican administration is different in any way from Clinton's Democratic administration, when it comes down to the fundamentals, they do exactly the same thing... I am not aligned to either side, I dislike both.

If I criticize something, it does not make me against it in principle, it makes me a critic. Everyone is a critic, to some extent. If I criticize the gearbox in my 924 for having badly designed synchros, does it mean that I am anti-Porsche? No, it means I'm criticizing a single facet of one component of the whole automobile...
