96 3.3l runs......sorta

was cruising at 70mph, when it started dropping cylinders. made it off the road , and it died. It would restart after quite a bit of cranking, but would only run on 2-3 cyls. let it sit a min. then restarted it, sounded good, would onlyrun 25 mph, died again and wouldn't restart, waited a bit , and it restarted running only on 2-3 cyls. State trooper pulled up behind me,i let it sit there loping , used trooper's phone to call my dad, when i came back it was running fine, sat there for 20 min running like new. when dad showed up he followed me and it ran great for about 15 miles. then it started all over again, made it to home loping on few cylinders.....going to check fuel press in a bit, any help ,

sorry if it sounds hard to read, was in a hurry...

fuel pressure was only 25psi. idling, rev it up and it dropps 22-23, and stays there until i let it idle again. took the fuel filter off,cut it open, and there was a sliver of twisted metal, so the new pump goes in tonight.

What is good fuel pressure? How much PSI should it be?

Re: 96 3.3l runs......sorta

most multiport systems need 35-45 psi what i'm reading in a chilton that's for a 93-97 LHS-newyorker with the 3.3l is that it operates around 55psi.without the regulator, and 48 with it hooked up,...BUT the 96 caravan's regulator is on the pump assy in the tank. so i'm shooting for 45 or so.

Sounds like you're on to it toadady. Your right at the pressure supposed to be around 48 25 psi is definetely a problem. Let me know if the new pump fixes it ok?
