'95 Intrepid ES 3.3L Fans run continously

This post is actually for my dad's Intrepid. The cooling fans run continously when the engine is started and will not shut off. The computer has been changed, heat sensor, and heat sensor relay and still nothing. Anyone run into this problem? Thanks

Does it run even when the engine is off the key out of the ignition?

Both fans shut off when you turn off the engine.

sounds like the fan relay is stuck to the closed position therefore allowing the fans to run constantly. try replacing the fan relay and see what happens.

I think my dad said he replaced one of the heat sensor relays but I will see if he replaced both; one for each fan I assume? Thanks for the input!

if the relays are intact, the next thing that could be wrong is unfortunately, your PCM (powertrain control module) could be thinking that it's in an overheat condition. There are a few other things to check before you get to that point. Just FYI, other sensors that could fail or the coolant temperature sensor, and A/C clutch switch. If those act up, you'll get a misread from your computer.

I have not heard of the PCM or the A/C clutch switch. I will forward this on to my dad and see what he says. Thanks

I am having the same problem! I have replaced the pcm, fan module, heat sensor, and there is no short in the relay. If you find out what you problem is let me know! I have a 1995 Intrepid.

Check the wire that controls the ground for the fans. If that wire is shorted to ground, the fan will run constantly.

you must check a/c pressure transdeucer at a/c line below rad on passengers side was always a problem for this year vehicle new one is superceded to updated part and have to replace connector
& pigtail caused this problem or fans didn't come on at all depended on what voltage it was stuck on

Will do if my dad ever tries to work on it again. Sounds like it may be a short in the grounding wire. He has it wired up to a switch for now.
Hope he doesn't forget to turn it on this summer!

Re: '95 Intrepid ES 3.3L Fans run continously

..Just to be sure nothing simple was left unaccounted for: what position is the heater on? YOu must know that even if the A/C is not voluntarily engaged, it will kick in anyway when you use the DEF position or the mix DEF/HTR position, and both cooling fans turn on as soon as the A/C turns on...it just happens that some are not aware of that.
