car wont start after bhg repair?

just finished bhg repair, almost sure that i did everything correct other than forgetting to mark the cps to the head. when i was trying to start the car, the car was trying to crank but wont start. when i stop cranking it, i hear a loud pshhhhhhhh sound and see some pressurized wind come up from somewhere on the intake manifold? also, what are the reasons why a car wouldnt start? like i said, i am almost certain that i did everyting correct. please, any tips would be helpful. thanks

Re: car wont start after bhg repair?

That can't be a good sign, nothing should be compressed or pushed out of the intake on startup lol. When you pulled the head did you touch the cams at all? How about the pistons/crank? You lined up all the cam timing marks when you put the head and new timing belt back on right? TDC compression also I hope? Heres the links again on how to set the CPS...

Re: car wont start after bhg repair?

before i took the head off, i marked with white out the tooth of the timing belt to the cam gear and to the back cover thingy, basically a straight line. when working with the engine, i never moved the pistons or cranked, i did move the cams to allow the head bolts to be taken out, but i matched up the lines before i put it back. the only thing i didn't do was use white out on the cps before i unbolted it.

Re: car wont start after bhg repair?

basically, the engine was put on exactly when it was taken off, other than the cps not being exact.
