Hello Everybody...
I wonder whether if somenone could really answer my question since it's very important and critical for me. I own a Renault Megane 1.4l 16V Recently i replaced my Champion RC87YCL spark plugs which were originally placed by factory with NGK BKR7EVX-11 The difference between them is that NGK are a 2 units colder than the Champion and the Champion's Gap is 0.8mm and NGK's 1.1mm Since now engine is running better than before but i wonder... Is there a possibility to cause any damage to the engine due to colder and due to 0.3mm gapping difference ? Thanks for your answers.. Kosmas |

Two heat units colder sounds like a lot. Too much. I would expect the plugs to get carbon fouled, unless you do a lot of high speed driving for extended times. I do quite a bit of slow-ish driving around town and every time I've asked a shop if I should go to a higher heat range to burn off carbon they always say no. They say the mfgr suggested plugs are best for a wide range of driving conditions.
Also, the wider gap can be helping you now, but as your ignition system ages you can end up with a lot of misfiring if your system is no longer able to supply the high voltage needed for the wider gap. |

You could go to a higher output coil, but that may cause arching in the cap, the ign. system was not designed for HEI type ign.
Remember, electricity, follows the path of least resistance. |
