battery

Ok, while waiting for the money for new tires and a rim, the cold NY weather and my python alarm killed my stock battery. So now I need to replace it. My question is: What to get?
I have the front tower strut bar that interferes with the stock battery as it is. That was a b!tch just to install, and took alot of "finnessing".
Also, I have a 12 disc cd changer, equalizer, and amp in the car, a python alarm, and the cold weather. So it needs lots of cranking amps.
Optima redtops??? Any thoughts. I don't really want to relocate it to the trunk, but perhaps in the future, but for now i just want something that will work reliably and fit with the strut bar. What is the popular choice..? Any advice/experiences are greatly appreciated.

I've used the Diehards from Sears and they've done a great job for me. I don't have need for the extra juice like you do, but its never failed to crank over the car regardless of the temperature.

Re: battery

how much do those cost roughly? I think the optimas are in the range of 130 if I'm not mistaken.

Re: battery

optimas are great for basically everything, but one thing you should also think about getting is a capacitor for your amp(unless its low powered)

Re: battery

Dude, I sell alarms and I'll tell you there is NO way an alarm killed your battery. The nominal drain is less than what it takes your radio to hold it's presets even when armed. The only way it could kill the battery is if the parking light relay stuck or something like that. Everything else on that alarm is (-) triggered.

Re: battery

No, I didn't mean that the alarm killed it. I live in the freezing hell known as central NY. I had 2 flats and over the month that my car was sitting outside in sub 0 temperatures without moving it died. I didn't mean to imply that the alarm was the main cause, I am just saying that all the electronics probably didn't help (don't know to much about batteries, I just figured).
