Battery or Alternator? Won't charge the battery...
1998 Intrepid 2.7 Here's the problem: When you start the car, the dome lights flicker just enough to be noticable. The battery (8 months old) seems to go dead if the car is not started within 24 hrs. It charges good with a charger, but not so well in the car. Just recently left the battery terminal off and the battery held a decent charge. I was wondering if the alternator could be "half" gone? Has anyone experienced this in their car? Thanks!

Re: Battery or Alternator? Won't charge the battery...
Apparently you have a unseen short that is draining the battery. If, when you drive or idle the car and the voltmeter shows up to 15 volts charging, then your alternator is good. That' the first test to do if you got a voltmeter. If it's charging good, then look for maybe a light being left on unnoticed ,like in the trunk or some other problem you recently had or are having. Good luck as I work where these cars were made. The Hemi Magnum is coming!
