89 GP dies when stopped and in drive
I have a 1989 grand prix, it stall when i stop, if i put it in neutral and keep my foot on the gas, it stays running, but acts like it is running out of gas. The filter has been changed and it has been pressure tested... could it be an oxygen sensor? If so, how do i ge to it. Thanks

How does it run when not idling or stopped? What kind of gas mileage are you getting currently? Does the car start easily when cold? When hot? Any other maintenance done to the car recently? Did the onset of the problem coincide with an event.....ie: backfire, etc?

Re: 89 GP dies when stopped and in drive
It stalls when not idling, and when stopped, gets about 17mpg, starts easy, but stalls when not giving it gas, only other work done was on the brakes, there is no backfire and it doesnt sound like it is misfiring.

It's really hard to diagnose problems sight unseen.
How many miles are on the clock? What level of maintenance was done to the car before now? How old are the plugs, plug wires, air filter, etc. Not tryingto kill you with questions.....just trying to help. |
