1980 T/A wont start!?!?
So I have a 1980 bird with a 455 and one day I was just driving and it stopped. It started again and then stopped a minute or two later. It did it til I got home. I replaced the plugs, took off my carbs (have twin carbs) and cleaned them. Its been sitting for about two weeks and I tried to start it after I installed everything again.
All it did was make a loud popping sound??? ![]() Its not getting fuel either no matter how long I pump the gas. Is it the fuel pump? It's mechanical. I think I put all the plug wires in order but could it be the distributor? I just don't know. |

Re: 1980 T/A wont start!?!?
Will it start dribbling some fuel thru the carbs, do you have fuel getting to the carbs when you crank the engine line disconnected, if it pops back this could be a bad timing chain, gears. All basic stuff.

Re: 1980 T/A wont start!?!?
It gets zero fuel through the lines to the carbs so i thought it was the pump. I suppose it could be timing. There's really no shops in town but one for old cars and they prefer Chevy... Is there a way to tell for sure?
