Loud Clicking Noise under passenger side dash behind the glove box. Need Help!!!!!

I have the replacement part in hand, but need some tips for accessing it from the glove box.

This is for my 2008 Chevy Impala.

See the article below.

http://www.denlorstools.com/autoblog/2010/08/impala-loud-clicking-noise-in-dash-car-repair-article/

The part is the Fresh air door actuator.

I got the glove box swung all the way down, but it is a real pain getting to the part to replace it, and I am trying to save the expensive labor charges to have the dealership do it.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Mine looks a little different. This is what is throwing me off. The clicking and vibrations is coming from behind a plastic piece on the right hand side.

I have included pictures below. There are other images. I was using my cell phone camera. Let me know if you need clearer images.

do a you tube search for the video which will show you whats involved. it is behind there and is a small plastic box. very hard to show this removal.

the dealership or perhaps a local repair shop may have good experience with this replacement since it is appearing to be a common issue on both driver / passengersides.

this should be a warrantee item ...

Re: Loud Clicking Noise under passenger side dash behind the glove box. Need Help!!!!!

I am having the same problem, and my question is whether it would be a good idea to disconnect the part entirely and operate the vehicle?

Obviously I understand that the a/c system will suffer functionality wise, but would there be any damage or malfunction to the vehicle if operated without the part?

No damage will occur just no control over that portion of air flow.
