94 Dakota 2.5 broken cam shafts????
I have a 94 Dakota base model 2.5 4cyl...I had the cam shaft replaced at 166,000 miles when it just died while driving...3,000 miles later I have another broken cam shaft....I can understand the first one a bit, but the second in such a short time...Any ideas what could be the cause??

Re: 94 Dakota 2.5 broken cam shafts????
only time a cam would break is if there are too tight a clearance between the cam and bearings or a lack of lubrication or a combination of the two. Make sure you don't have any sludge or anything that would clog the oil passages and cause the cylinder head to go dry.

Re: 94 Dakota 2.5 broken cam shafts????
cams break when people crank the snot out of the tensioner. but most common problem is warped head with misalignment on the bores AND i've seen a lot of broken cams due to improper assembly on the cam caps
