Re: transmission

For both the 4T40E and 4T45E transaxles 7.4 quarts of Dexron III or Dexron VI ATF on a pan drop service.

For checking fluid level see link below.

Re: transmission

Bob if I drop the pan and change the filter, is the pan gasket the formed metal reusable type? Would I be ok to use the rubber type that is included in the filter kit?

Also if I dump seafoam in, how long can I run it with it in there before I need to change it? I wont have a chance to change the trans fluid and filter until probably next week.

It should be. I would not use any gasket from any kit but the OE rubber/preformed only. Are you having any transaxle issues? I wouldn't run any Seafoam treatment unless you are. How many miles?

Re: transmission

Hey Bob, no just thinking about changing it out as it has 100k and the original owner did absolutly nothing to it as far as preventative maintenance. I thought the seafoam treatment might be a good idea.

Tim, it probably won't hurt. Same process like on our 4T65E transaxles in the Grand Prixs. No more than 8 ounces of "Seafoam Trans Tune" for about 30 minutes drive time.

BTW - Overall the 4T45E transaxle is alot more reliable than the 4T65E. Less overall problems. Just checking the ATF fluid level is a PITA since there is no dipstick.
