transmission
how many quarts of tranny fluid does it take when draining and replace screen or filter in a 2.4 alero Thanks

For both the 4T40E and 4T45E transaxles 7.4 quarts of Dexron III or Dexron VI ATF on a pan drop service.

Bob if I drop the pan and change the filter, is the pan gasket the formed metal reusable type? Would I be ok to use the rubber type that is included in the filter kit?
Also if I dump seafoam in, how long can I run it with it in there before I need to change it? I wont have a chance to change the trans fluid and filter until probably next week.

Hey Bob, no just thinking about changing it out as it has 100k and the original owner did absolutly nothing to it as far as preventative maintenance. I thought the seafoam treatment might be a good idea.

BTW - Overall the 4T45E transaxle is alot more reliable than the 4T65E. Less overall problems. Just checking the ATF fluid level is a PITA since there is no dipstick.

2001 alero when i'm driving i here a roar when i speed up gets quiter when i slow down some people say its the hub axle the sound seems to be comingfrom around driver side and in the front i don't seem to have any slap when putting in gear . thanks
