Question How much NOS on a stock Civic Engine?

I have a 97 civic LX and I was wondering if I could put a ZEX system on it without blowing my pistons and heads to kingdom come. It is a 55-75 full throttle shot kit the guy is tryin to sell me, I need some input.

Do you know which engine you have? I would say that 55-75 is too much and 75 is WAY too much. Anytime you are going to use forced induction you should build up the engine internals to handle tyhe stress. With N2O being the most potent form you are bound yo hurt something in that engine. I would say don't get it at all unless you plan to be spending a lot of money in the long run.

The guy is trying to sell you...

So you were just in the store and he said here buy this NOS because you own a civic and all civics gotta nave NAWS yo?

The rule of thumb is 50% - but thats only if you actually know what you are doing. In your case, skip the NOS and maybe think about what you are doing with your car - where you want to take it, what things you want to do to it... and then decide. Dont just get NOS because its a cheap power adder - its not as simple as that.

BTW - Welcome to AF :smoka:

You should be good to go with the 55 shot, wouldn't go any higher than that though to be on the safe side. You don't HAVE to build your internals at all if you keep the shot low enough. Over a year on a 125hp shot on STOCK internals and when we pulled the rods and such for the rebuild, there wasn't much extra wear there at all. Now, that big of a shot on stock cluches...that's a different story all together, hehe

Me personally would be more worried about pistons before I worried about rods...

N2O on stock

You can run 20hp per cyl. So with a stock 4cly you are safe with an 80 shot. Now these numbers are for wet kits, i.e. NX. I am running a 75 shot on my car and never the first problem.

Woah, definitely never heard that one before, and I definitely wouldn't trust it. Sounds waaaaayyyyy to optimistic if you ask me.

One of the dumbest posts I've ever seen in my life The fact that you call is nos, and think that only ricers use it show two things...1) You are a ricer yourself and 2) You surround yourself with fellow ricers. You can fill up the tank at many REAL performance shops that sell it. It's usually about 3 dollars per pound. MANY people use nitrous, and not just little tiny shots you're probably familiar with. I'm talking about 200, 300, 400, 500, and 1000hp shots. So think and research before you speak next time, you'll sound more educated. Oh, and nitrous DOES make you fast, so if you think you're going to be fast by getting nitrous...You're absolutely right
