Yes, double cams allow for alot more potential power, there are alot of technical excuses for having dohc as well, but I doubt you would care much

So you keep that for a couple of hundred years, and the nexy thing you know, you have the Roman Catholic church.

DOHC have more "tuning" potential than SOHC. You can adjust the cams separately for more power. Plus DOHC can handle more power from forced induction than SOHC.

Ay....this is true, well the big ones are just the tuning abilities and the forced induction, as said already (thrice)

Actually the SOHC are better for Turbo setups. (Turbo Magazine) The reason why this is, is because the SOHC are low compression motors unlike the B series motors.

i didnt feel like replying but ok, sohc's are no better then dohc's as well as dohc are not better then sohc's. sohc cars run 9's against full drag h22a1 powered hb's all day, gudes all motor 8 second crx. example after example any engine can compete with any engine. as for ease of tuning thats where the dohc's can take a little bit of a lead only because u can sequentually tune each cam to its peak performance, other then that the sohc has the lighter weight and less time to perform its 4 stroke cycle. me myself I only prefer sohc cause I love to life my hood to the engine swappers after I hand there ass to em and they say what u got? I lift and say "see" and there suprised ta see sohc. also there is a d15 from a93 dx supercharged put into a 91 crx that is handing some peoples ass's to em.... but there is no better engine.... happy posting...

i myself am not a big engine 2ner just yet so i'm a little fuzzy n this area.
how ever i plan on doing my 1st swap this spring.
i'm not looking to race or have a turbo just plain n/a honda power.
which is the reason why i'm gonna go dohc.
it just seems to me (please correct if i'm wrong) that a dohc has loads more hp than a sohc "d16 130hp to b18 180hp." how could a d16 built vs. a b18 built " same mods n types of internals" compete hp wise?
